I have to admit, I have a new obsession with holiday themed children’s books. We have acquired quite the collection of kid’s books since Remington was born, and we have done the “25 Books of Christmas” for the past two three years, but as Remington has gotten older and more aware of holidays, I am always looking for more ways to celebrate. Books are perfect for that, because they are cost effective (I always shop sales, used and price match when possible!), and they can last their whole childhood! Each holiday I pick up a few new books, and now our collections are growing and we are loving it.
This is the first year we have gotten any St. Patrick’s Day books, and I love the ones we found so far! One in-particular has been Remington’s favorite, Ten Lucky Leprechauns. It cost less than $5 and is such a cute story. Remi loves it because it is predictable and involves counting, while I love that it has fun rhymes, is easy to follow and keeps his attention.

Today I paired this story with this free printable from Playdough to Plato! I printed the pots on normal paper and laminated them for continued play, but you can also use cardstock (or anything you have on hand, really!) I grabbed some plastic gold coins we had from other activities but you could even use pennies!

This counting gold activity aligns perfectly with counting leprechauns in the story. Remington had such a good time, he kept asking “to play this game”.
Let me know below how you and your littles enjoyed this!
