Something that we always have in our activity rotation is play dough. Which is funny, because I said I would never have it in my house, knowing what a mess it can be, and the nightmare of getting it in the carpet. Fast forward five years or so, me and my hardwood floors love the simplicity and cheap entertainment.
When I came across this Sparkly Lime Jello Play Dough from Plain Vanilla Mom, it couldn’t be more perfect for my jello and play-doh loving boy!
Here is the recipe from Modern Parents Messy Kids:

Remington loves to be in the kitchen and help me bake, so he had so much fun adding all the ingredients and mixing them up!
As Recommended from the Plain Vanilla Mom, we added green food coloring while cooking, and green glitter (I found a mixed pack of colors from the Dollar Tree, but if I did it again, I would use a chunkier glitter to show up better!). Add the glitter when the dough has cooled (it took ours about 25 mins to cool down completely). Our dough seemed pretty sticky, so we probably added about 1.5 cups while kneading.
When our dough was ready to play, we grabbed a shamrock cutter and rolling pin and had a great time. Remi went rouge and made a caterpillar and butterfly (The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of his favorite nap time books currently!) He had a great time, and we put the dough in a plastic container to play again later.
What I loved most about this activity was that it was an experience for us to do together, as well as provided creative independent play after!
This could be tailored to any color (just change the jello flavor!) for any holiday or theme! Tell me below what you and your little did!
