I have had so much fun recreating the same activity for different holidays. I think it creates a sense of repetition for your child, and they feel confident starting the project. This past Valentine’s Day, we made a heart man that reminded me so much of little cards my mom would make with us when we were little. When I was browsing projects to do for St. Patrick’s Day this year, I loved this Shamrock Man from the Resourceful Mama!
We already had these supplies on hand, and I threw them together to take on our road trip to Grandma’s house this week. Here is all you need:
- Green Cardstock
- White Cardstock (I used a pastel green for this part)
- Googly Eyes (we had some colored ones from the Dollar Tree)
- Black Marker
- Scissors if you are cutting your shapes out (or else your Cricut)
First, cut out your shamrocks, you’ll need one large for the body and four small for the hands and feet. I used my Cricut but you can also free hand it or print a shape from a simple google search!
Next cut rectangles out of the white cardstock, two shorter for arms and two larger for the legs. I like to have all my cutting done ahead of time, but if your kiddos are older, they could definitely do that part.
It’s time to make your Shamrock Man come to life! First, fold the arms and legs like an accordion. Use the glue to attach the arms and legs to the shamrock body, then add the hands and feet. Last, glue on the eyes and draw a mouth.
There you have a Shamrock Man! Remington was so excited and immediately made his come to life and dance!
I hope your littles love this project like we did, let me know below how it went!
XO, Amanda, The Celebrating Mama
