Just like our last post, we are big on sensory play in our house, especially when we have the supplies laying around! In the spirit of St. Patty’s Day, I was excited to find this idea from The Resourceful Mama to sort one of our favorite cereals!
As I have said before, sometimes it is the most simple things we do that our kiddos enjoy the most. Giving Remington the opportunity to play with his food, work on color recognition, and fine motor skills through sorting made this activity a win for both of us! I couldn’t wait to get the Fruit Loops out and get to sorting!

All you need is:
- Fruit Loops (you could switch it up with another favorite variety cereal!)
- Small Cups of Bowls ( I used mini plastic cups with colored paper taped on each to distinguish colors)
- Tongs (If you would like to increase challenge or work on that skill!)
To set up this activity, I spread out the Fruit Loops on a plate, and set up the cups in a row. Remington immediately dug in and began sorting!
I love to watch him work through sorting, to see the process he follows. He wanted me to join in, but insisted we take it one color at a time!
Before long, all the cereal was sorted and it was snack time! Let me know below how you and your little enjoyed this!
